WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF SOMOSKŐI WINERY
Our winery is located in Nivegy valley, which is part of the Balatonfüred-Csopak wine region. The area belonged to the ancient Roman empire’s wine growing region.
The valley gives home to a few smaller towns: Tagyon, Szentantalfa, Balatoncsicsó, Óbudavár.
The soil is characterized by volcanic basalt, and clay, which is rich in minerals, and there’s also valuable karst water below the surface.
ABOUT OUR WINERY
Our winery is currently working on 4.2 acres. Our wines are predominantly made from white wine grape types typical to the Balaton highland, but we also planted Pinot Noir. Our white wine grape types include Olaszrizling (Welschriesling), Rizlingszilváni (Müller-Thurgau), Rajnai rizling (Rhein Riesling), Chardonnay, Sárgamuskotály (Muscat Lunel), and Juhfark, which is one of the oldest Hungarian grape types.
